Some 75,000 builders, designers, remodelers, and more descended on Las Vegas last week for the 2014 International Builders’ Show. For the first time ever, the show shared the stage with the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show. GE unveils its smart home technologies at its first appearance at the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show, CES. These ecomagination and healthymagination technologies, including Nucleus Energy Manager with Brillion technology, the GE WattStation electric vehicle charging station, an advanced small wind turbine, will help consumers reduce health- and energy-related costs and redefine the benchmark for household performance. The Electrolux Infinity I-Kitchen refrigerator, launched in Brazil has a touch screen on the top door, which is getting attention from computer devotees all around the world. Open-plan kitchens are a major trend, increasingly merging with dining and living areas. This insight is the result of a study which Miele conducted together with the architects Graft and Associates. The disappearance of walls between areas of the home poses specific challenges to built-in appliances – in order to blend in, appliances must perfectly combine form and function.
